A family vacation, part 1

Part 1: Kids at the park and a factory

Earlier this week my immediate family and all their troops got together for a family reunion.  This was the first official family reunion for our family only.  We spent 3 days in Leavenworth area being the tourists.  Usually I am the one that lives in the area with a lot of tourists, but this time that role was mine.  And I hate looking like a tourist, but it worked out this time.  We got a lot of wide-eyed looks for the 13 kids that made up our zoo.  They were cute objects for some photography practice over the week, too!

On day 1 we drove to Leavenworth, stopping for some sight-seeing and a park on the way.  The kids enjoyed playing for a long time on the playground before we moved on to our destination for the night.

Not too hot and not too cold.  :)

This is how we cross the road with 13 youngsters.  Each must fend for himself!

After the park, our next official stop was an aplets and cotlets shop and factory.  We got to take a little tour of the factory, too.  Everyone touring was required to wear a hair net, which was not extremely stylish.  I'm glad that didn't last too long!

Selah was probably trying to hide her lovely net.  Not a new style, I guess.

Moriah knew she looked silly, I think
Gideon was pretty chill about the new look.

Following our tour, we took our time in enjoying the walk back to our cars at the park.

Judah found some large pine cones.

Ashnah was obviously enthusiastic about riding on Uncle Matt's shoulders.
He gave her a ride to remember!

More posts on our vacation will be coming soon!

  1. Ooh, the Aplets and Cotlets factory! We've been there. Homeschool field trips are the best, right?

    1. Yes! It was fun and it smelled good! ;) However, it was a little challenging herding 13 kids under 10.
