Mountain adventures

All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with fear, His praise forth-tell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

Know that the Lord is God indeed:
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.
(although we may think we're in control, we most certainly are not.  God chose to create us because He wanted us.  Humbling!)

O enter then His gates with praise,
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemingly to do so.
(Knowing all that God is for us should bring us unending joy, like a stream that overflows and never runs dry.)

For why? the Lord God is good,
His mercy is forever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
(this verse gives only a few reasons why God deserves our praise.  He is good, merciful, true, and eternal.)

Last month we took some mountain road adventures to places we had never been before with a couple of Mom's friends .  As it turned out, we didn't really get to where we hoped the rock roads would take us, but it felt pretty adventurous and fun.  Unfortunately we ran into lots of closed roads, but the scenery was made especially lovely by the fall colors.  At any rate, we now know where those roads lead.

Had to see it to believe it, so we didn't give attention to the signs which warned us ahead of time.
Ok, now I see why it's closed.  ;)
This should've been the road

We walked a little ways past the washout, and found a little stream and a lot of rocks,
so Tirzah and I climbed way up this mountainside until our knees were terribly shaky.
Dosewallips River, which we found on another road which came to a closed end.
Look at all those fall colors!!

A very clear blue-green river.
